PRIVACY NOTICE
Due to EU law changes we have updated our data protection policy to comply with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. The new laws make it easier for you to control what personal information we hold about you and how you would like us to use the information.
THE INFORMATION WE USE AND WHERE WE GET IT FROM
At SupportiveHands you will be asked for your personal identification details in order to book appointments. This information will be stored electronically. At your first consultation medical history details together with consultation notes will enable us to carry out specific treatments. Ongoing treatments will be recorded manually in paper and digital files.
YOUR RIGHTS
Previously under the data protection act 1998 you had the right to obtain access to and a copy of the data we hold about you. Under the new GDPR you will also have the right to erasure once the required timeline has ceased. You have the right to see what information is stored and your written request will be processed within a month from receipt.
SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
SupportiveHands will endeavour to protect the privacy of our users; we will not wilfully disclose information about our users to any third party without first receiving your consent. If you would like us to write to your GP or insurance company, your written request will be required before any information can be released.
COMMUNICATIONS ABOUT YOUR INFORMATION
We will only contact you regarding appointments. Please help us to keep your information accurate by either email or updating on your next visit.
HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION
Your consultation record is retained for 4 years after you have ceased treatment. All data after this period is confidentially destroyed.
SECURITY
SupportiveHands is committed to the security of our users’ personal information and we have security procedures in place to protect against loss, misuse or alteration of personal information under our control. Personnel paper records are stored in secure lockable cabinets, electronic data is secured with AES 256 encryption and our staff are trained in confidentiality issues to keep personal information secure.
WEBSITE
When using our website, we do not have user accounts and do not require you to register on the website therefore we do no collect personal information except from your internet provider for website analytics. If you do not wish to share this information collated through cookies please change your privacy browsing settings with your internet browser.
Email requests via the website are secured with best practices, all emails between users are filtered for spam and viruses.
